Ligature Volume 5: Dan Glassman Out Now
An innovative micro-site by and about artists making unusual
connections
SEATTLE,
Wash., February 1, 2009 – Ligature Online (http://www.bigfigdesigngroup.com/1.0/Ligature/Ligature.html)
today announced the release of Ligature Volume 5: Dan Glassman.
Dan Glassman
has worked with internationally known ad agencies like BBDO/NY, DDB/NY and
Deutsch/LA, written ads for clients like Pepsi and Frito Lay, led the
development of Lexus.com, penned television commercials for Burger King, and
has half-dozen screenplays under his belt. But is not featuring any of the
above. Instead, they are featuring Dan’s “off-the-hook” artwork.
Dan’s artwork connects seemingly disparate aspects of pop culture;
HBO, the movies, junk food and fairy tales. It all comes together in a world
like no other. To bring together these diverse interests, Dan uses similarly
diverse mediums. Pen & ink, paint, woodblock printing; Dan uses whatever
tools he feels will get to the image he’s after.
According
to Glassman: “I like to twist things around and then shade them until they look
real. I see infinite details and try to create a topography within the faces
and bodies I am drawing, in order to create a world where these things I come
up with could exist.”
About
Ligature Online
Each
month Ligature Online hosts an artist whose work and way of thinking makes
interesting or unusual connections; designer as storyteller, writer as
illustrator, sculptor as playwright, or poet as seamstress. The format and
content will be left to each artist, as Ligature is designed to provide a space
for artists to present and discuss their own work in their own way. Artists slated to exhibit include Susan
Andrade, Barbara Kosoff, Susan Benarcik Pete Benarcik, Dan Glassman, John Beach
and Dave Straus.
