Ligature Volume 6: John Beach Out Now
An innovative micro-site by and about artists making unusual
connections
SEATTLE,

today announced the release of Ligature Volume 6: John Beach.
Designer-illustrator-artist John Beach has been running his own
show out of a flat in Hollywood, CA for over 20 years, and you can instantly
see from the depth and breadth of his work that he’s got the chops to hang with
the best of the best. But according to Big Fig, “the guy is so humble, it was
like pulling teeth to get him to contribute something to our little zine.”
Spanning disciplines, the clarity of John’s thinking and the
elegance of his design shines through each and every solution he arrives at.
His work is a treasure trove of innovation, whether he is producing a hot-pink
& chocolate quilt for Target, a delicate surface pattern for Disney, or a
cuddly, quilted penguin plush for Starbucks, John’s rigorous approach never
ceases to amaze.
According
to Beach: “If there are any kernels of truth to be found in this business, I
think one of the most important is finding that piece of the puzzle that brings
you the artist, into alignment with the client: that magical thing called a
symbiotic relationship.”

Ligature Online
Each
month Ligature Online hosts an artist whose work and way of thinking makes
interesting or unusual connections; designer as storyteller, writer as
illustrator, sculptor as playwright, or poet as seamstress. The format and
content will be left to each artist, as Ligature is designed to provide a space
for artists to present and discuss their own work in their own way. Artists slated to exhibit include Susan
